Hobcaw Yacht Club Boatyard Policies and
Procedures
In accordance with
our Club Regulations and insurance requirements, and as a courtesy to fellow
members, each member and guest must comply with the following rules
concerning the boatyard. These rules are for your benefit and will help
prevent unwanted vandalism, theft, non-member usage and damage to the
parking lot.
Members must
register and purchase annually a numbered HYC BOARTYARD decal (s) to
be displayed on the rear left window of the launch and retrieve vehicle. The
annual period is based on a calendar period, no prorating. (Boatyard decals
are DIFFERENT from Member Burgee)
Only 2 stickers
per household for launch / retrieve vehicles will be issued
Only 2 boatyard
key per household will be issued
If you rent space
in the boatyard the boat registered is the only boat allowed in that space,
no exceptions.
If you trade
vehicles, sticker must be scraped off and returned before issuance of a new
one can occur.
Enforcement
procedures are (no exceptions)
Cars not in
compliance with all boatyard rules WILL BE TOWED.
Hobcaw Yacht Club Boatyard/Waterfront
Rules
Boating takes
precedence over all other waterfront activities. Absolutely no swimming from
the docks
Only members may
use the waterfront facilities. All guests must be accompanied by a member in
good standing for the duration of the visit.
Motor vehicle
operations in the boatyard are limited to water recreational activities
(i.e., launching and retrieving vehicles). Maximum motor vehicle speed is 5
mph.
Motor vehicles
with trailers must be parked only in the center or river side spaces of the
boatyard. Parking spaces on the east side of the boatyard are reserved for
paid rental spaces. Do not park where you block launching ramps or docks. No
vehicles without trailers can be parked in the boatyard. This includes golf
carts.
Prepare your boat
for use before launching. Move to the floating docks, as far as possible
from the ramp, to complete preparations for getting under way.
When returning,
prepare your boat for recovery before approaching the ramp.
From April 1
through October 31 maximum parking time at the docks for unattended boats
is:
. 15 minutes on
front or creek side
. 2 hours on back
or shore side
Boats may not be
left overnight at the dock without prior permission from the waterfront
chairman,
and WILL be
removed at owners’ expense
The water area
within 300 feet of the Hobcaw Yacht Club dock is a no wake zone with 5 mph
speed limit.
Please notify the
waterfront chairman of any facility deficiencies or violations.
Sailboat Storage Rules
A HYC BOATYARD sticker is required to be on each boat.
Members must register and purchase annually a numbered HYC BOARTYARD
decal (s) to be displayed on the left corner or the transom.
In addition to the HYC BOATYARD Sticker, Each boat must be
registered with the sailing chairman or the boatyard chairman, and provide a
point of contact valid for the next 9 months.
Boats are there
for the purpose and intent of being sailed.
Boats can only be
left on the club grounds for no more than nine consecutive months, and must
be off of the club grounds for at least three months of each calendar year.
Boats must be
small enough to be moved by one person without using a vehicle, whether on a
dolly, trailer, or on the ground. It is permissible to leave a boat on the
ground and use a club dolly to launch as long as one person is able to get
it on the dolly and dolly must be returned to grassy area when not in use
even you are out sailing.
Boat must be in
sailing condition with a functional rig. Boats may not be under major repair
other than typical between use maintenance.
Club is not
responsible for damage or loss.
Owner must secure
or remove boat as appropriate for typical seasonal weather and for predicted
storms.
Boats in grassy
area may not have engines.
Boats in grassy
area do not have assigned locations except for club owned boats. First come
first serve basis and when you return from sailing you are not entitled to
the spot you had when you left to go sailing.
